Prince‘s rare appearance on ‘New Girl’ was a huge get for the show, as the reclusive musician was not one to frequently do that sort of thing. Zooey Deschanel appeared on Conan to talk about the process they took to get Prince on the show back in 2014, as well as a truly starting revelation: he used his power to get a Kardashian cameo, which was already filmed, cut from the episode.
Turns out that an unspecified number of Kardashians – definitely including Khloe and Kris Jenner – showed up to appear in the party scene of the episode, but after Prince’s camp demanded a full look at the script, the cameo was no more. Said Deschanel:
“One of the PAs comes in and she’s like, ‘I need all of the scripts.’ She takes mine from me, takes everyone’s call sheets, so I’m like, What’s going on? I walk outside and she has a bonfire. She’s burning all the scripts and the call sheets. It turns out that someone from Prince’s camp said, ‘Who are the celebrities? I hope it’s not a Kardashian.’ It’s sad because Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner had very kindly come in and shot the scene … but Prince was running the show.”
There ya have it. Prince, a hot ball of raw energy and talent, was not keen on today’s reality TV superstars. Right about now, it’s so important to remember the time Prince kicked Kim Kardashian off the stage at one of his shows because she wasn’t able to deliver in the dance moves department.
