Everyone’s latest Netflix obsession is the sick and twisted psychological thriller series You starring Penn Badgley as supremely cooked C U Next Tuesday, Joe Goldberg.

I’m not going to give too much away in case you haven’t seen it yet (and trust me, you wanna go in fresh for max effect) but all I’m gonna say is that he’s literally a sadistic psycho murderer. I’m talkin’ really full on shit that makes you want to give up dating… and interacting with other humans, TBH.

But because Badgley is a babe and a half and many people have an unfortunate penchant for bad boys, the internet is romanticising his sick behaviour and Penn himself is not okay with it.

The former Gossip Girl star has taken to Twitter to respond to fans who have been crushing on crazy old Joe to remind them that being a psycho murderer isn’t cute and maybe people should set their sights just a little bit higher.

Legit tho, some fans have been asking him to stalk, kidnap and murder them for their ~erotic~ pleasure and holy fkn shit.

One fan who Badgley was actually on the same page with, though, was one who said that people “romanticising” his character scared them.

“Ditto. It will be all the motivation I need for season 2,” the actor wrote.

The 10-episode series, which is based on a novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, was recently renewed for a second season to appease all the sickos.

While Badgley is defo set to return, showrunner Sera Gamble told fans that it was “too soon to say definitely whether John Stamos will return in season two”.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she added: “But we have been talking a lot about the character and we’re excited to keep telling that story.”

While You is set and filmed in New York, the follow-up book, Hidden Bodies, sees the story relocate to Los Angeles where Joe is “determined to put his past behind him”, according to Kepnes.

She continues: “Joe can’t stop looking over his shoulder. The problem with hidden bodies is that they don’t always stay that way. They re-emerge, like dark thoughts, multiplying and threatening to destroy what Joe wants most: true love.

“And when he finds it in a darkened room in Soho House, he’s more desperate than ever to keep his secrets buried. He doesn’t want to hurt his new girlfriend – he wants to be with her forever.

“But if she ever finds out what he’s done, he may not have a choice.”

Keen for more creepy goodness!
