No Love Lost For Channel Seven’s ‘Please, Marry My Boy’

Would your Mum third-wheel on a date you were on? Would your Mum third-wheel on said date if it was televised to an audience of over a million Australians? Above all that, would you even go on a television show in the first place which pigeonholed you as an inept man-child incapable of making your own bed, let alone your own romantic choices? Better yet, would you watch that show?

Yes, you would. Apparently 1.089 million of you watched last night’s finale of ‘Please, Marry My Boy‘, making the three-way dating program (no, not that kind of three-way) the most watched non-news TV program in Australia last night, especially in the 18-49 and 16-39 demographics (that’s you guys).

Bachelors Matt, Brendan, Vlad and Tony were paired by their mothers with all the single ladies (on the show) Amanda, Anna, Andrea and Magdelena (respectively), but all pairings have since proven unfruitful, with not one lasting the distance between production wrapping and last night’s screening. I’m not sure what this says about the state of relationships, romance or dating (I’m not Carrie Bradshaw) or of reality television, or even of the caliber of Australian mothers, but Seven has given the green light on season two of the show, which you can apply for here. Or if publicly televised adventures in failed romance are not your thing, and you’re a fabulous, successful independent woman who don’t need no man to put a ring on it (of course you are), you should definitely apply here.
