‘Ninja Warrior’ Diehards Reckon Last Night’s Course Was Rough As Guts

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who claims Australian Ninja Warrior’s obstacle course looks easy. Those who do think they could complete it probably spent much of Year Six telling you they could do kickflips, but they just didn’t want to show you.

In any case, producers on the ratings smash thought still didn’t reckon competitors had it rough enough, as evidenced by last night’s episode. A slew of new obstacles ensured challengers got absolutely wrecked – and audiences bloody well responded.
ICYMI, three new joint-punishers were added to the course. First came the Bom Slider, which resembled a flying fox with gravel shoved in the final third of its railing. Next came a trapeze-ish rail combo, ending with a leap to netting. Finally, a series of chains fitted with big-ass balls.

That first one? Brutal, apparently.

As Australia watched ludicrously-shredded punters try their luck across those maddening challenges, it became apparent that yep, those obstacles were somehow even more diabolical than the ones that came before.

At this juncture, we can only assume the show will soon adopt flamethrowers and swinging circular saw blades. Con: it may be hard to convince censors that much gore is suitable for a prime-time audience. Pro: it’d make the MXC-style re-edit a whole lot better.
