Nicole Scherzinger Reckons “Sula” Is An Aussie Slang Word And We’re Baffled

Nicole Scherzinger

Aussies are notorious for trolling visitors with tales of drop bears and the like, but it appears someone has taken this a step further, teaching poor Nicole Scherzinger a completely fake slang word.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer has been spending a bit of time in the country recently, sitting on the judging panel of Australia’s Got Talent alongside Manu Feildel and host Ricki-Lee.

Scherzinger stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show this week to talk about her current schedule, which involves three talent shows in three different nations, and things quickly got weird.

“The Australian accent is good times guys,” she said, breaking into one herself. “It’s heaps, heaps of fun!”

She then told the audience: “I learned a new word in Australia. So, this is what’s keeping me motivated. I learned “sula”. Does anyone know what a sula is?”

Ummm … Image result for confused

She then helpfully explained: “If you don’t have a sula, you’re not working hard enough. A sula is a sweaty upper lip alert. So, you’ve got to work so hard.”

Sorry, Nicole Scherzinger, but we suspect that someone’s been having you on.

As best we can work out, “sula” originated in the 2008 film Wild Child, where Emma Roberts plays a spoiled American teen who get shipped off to England. Do you want to tell Nicole or will I?
