Happy IWD To Nicole Scherzinger Who Gives Precisely Zero Fucks About Being Slut-Shamed

Happy International Women’s Day to Nicole Scherzinger, who continues to give absolutely zero fucks about anyone who tries to slut-shame her or the Pussycat Dolls.

The Pussycat Dolls have thrusted themselves back into our lives in recent months, which I can only describe as the greatest reunion of all time. But even in 2020, they’re still being slut-shamed for their performance style and costuming despite the fact that their lyrics are frankly inspiring as fuck.

The pop queens gave a stellar performance on Sunrise this week, but rather than praising them on the fact that a bunch of 30-40-year-old women can still dance this well, a bunch of boomers decided to slut shame them for what has been described as a “singing strip show.”

“Everything we do we do with the intention of inspiring and empowering each and every one of you,” Nicole told the crowd at the Sunrise show.

Following the backlash, Nicole took to Instagram today to share a series of pictures in a red PVC ensemble. May I remind you, this woman is 41-years-old and she clearly works hard to look this good, why the hell shouldn’t she flaunt it? This is the confidence we should all aspire to have.

Even after clapping back at the original backlash, Nicole’s Instagram post has prompted a plethora of articles calling her “scandalous” and “shocking”, instead of empowering and confident.

The PCD copped a whole heap of unfair hate back in the early noughties for their sultry costumes and dance style, and it was frankly bullshit back then. Songs like I Don’t Need A Man and Hush Hush are the feminist anthems we needed back in the early noughties and we SLEPT on it.

But now it’s 2020 and we’ve got a group of strong, independent women who ooze the confidence, female empowerment and boss energy we should be aiming for. At 41-years-old, Nicole Scherzinger is confident enough in her body and sexuality to dress like this and fucking OWN it.

Let’s stop imagining a false correlation between the way a woman chooses to dress and her morals and personal values. Whether it’s the Pussycat Dolls, or just that girl who posts lingerie photos on her Instagram, remember that loving your body doesn’t make you a bad person.

So maybe, rather than beating down other women for being embracing their bodies and sexual energy, we should all just build each other up to a point in which we can all be confident within ourselves and our own bodies. Maybe you’re not keen to rock a red PVC bodysuit and shake your ass on national TV, that’s fine. But don’t shame someone who feels confident and empowered by doing so.
