Critics are raving about Nicole Kidman‘s performance as slutty southern trailer trash obsessed with a death row inmate in the film The Paperboy.
The movie, directed by Precious helmer Lee Daniels, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival last night and the majority of reviews have placed the sleazy swamp melodrama in the so-bad-it’s-good trash cinema category, a la the great John Waters; but Kidman is drawing high praise for a fearlessly provocative performance that includes doing a wee on co-star Zac Efron.
In the scene Zac Efron’s character has been stung by a jellyfish and a bikini clad Nicole applies the old wive’s tale remedy of fresh urine from a squatting position. (For the record, wee does not cure a jellyfish sting.)
