Netflix Just Saved Tina Fey’s New Sitcom


Aside from the Mean Girls reunion, it hasn’t exactly been a great year for Tina Fey fans – of the two sitcoms she had in development, Fox passed on the campus-based Cabot College, while NBC opted not to go ahead with The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

For a while, it seemed we’d be deprived of a fresh hit of Fey’s comedy sensibilities – until the good people at Netflix stepped in and announced they would be saving Kimmy Schmidt, and better yet, picking it up for two whole seasons!
The series stars Ellie Kemper – who played receptionist Erin in The Office – as a woman who recently escaped from a religious cult, and is learning to live life in the outside world.
The show co-stars 30 Rock‘s Jane ‘Jenna Maroney’ Krakowski as Kemper’s boss. Our feelings about this could most adequately be summed up with the following:
As previously reported, Netflix will be coming to Australia next year. This is yet another reason to get on board.
