Mark Wahlberg Reckons Celebrities Should Just STFU About Politics

Your boy Mark Wahlberg hasn’t always been afraid to make strong, provocative political statements:
That said, his position has hardened with age, and during a recent interview with Task & Purpose, a US publication geared towards veterans, he straight-up said that celebrities should avoid talking politics.
His key issue is that, for all the noise made by celebrities like Katy Perry and Miley Cyris in the lead-up to November’s election, their endorsement of Hilary Clinton made little difference in key battleground states.
He had earlier said that “a lot of celebrities did, do and shouldn’t” in relation to political endorsements, and expanding on these comments to the publication, he said:

“You know, it just goes to show you that people aren’t listening to that anyway. They might buy your CD or watch your movie, but you don’t put food on their table. You don’t pay their bills. A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble. They’re pretty out of touch with the common person, the everyday guy out there providing for their family.”
He continued:
“Me, I’m very aware of the real world. I come from the real world and I exist in the real world. And although I can navigate Hollywood and I love the business and the opportunities it’s afforded me, I also understand what it’s like not to have all that.”
Wahlberg is currently promoting Patriots Day, a Peter Berg-directed film about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath, in which three civilians and two police officers were killed, and 280 people injured.
