In case you missed it, in last night’s episode of Married At First Sight, the only semi-stable couple in the show, Cameron Merchant and Jules Robinson, got engaged. (Yes, they’re already “married”, but that’s just MAFS married and this is actual legit engaged).

Cam got down on one knee and popped the question to Jules, whipping out a massive diamond sparkler which caused her to gasp in delight. However, many eagle-eyed fans of the show voiced concerns that the “diamond” could be as authentic as most of the relationships on this show. So, not very.

See, many of the rings used on the show are provided by Secrets Shhh, a company that makes jewellery with cubic zirconia stones that look passably close to the real deal, which is why some fans had their suspicions that Jules’ sparkler might not be legit.

If this ring is from Secrets I’ll be very disappointed #mafs

The show’s villains, Dan Webb and Jessika Power, also had a moment where a ring was presented — not an engagement ring but a commitment ring.
But this rock was very obviously from Secrets Shhh, and even had the ribbon still on the box.

The sleuths over at Yahoo Lifestyle even went as far to figure out that the ring in question is available cost a very economical $399. Viewers’ reactions were savage, to say the least.

Was that a gold plated ring with cubic zirconia? Sure looked like it. The sort that makes your finger go green after a couple of weeks #MAFS

Some very cynical people here who clearly don’t believe in the sanctity of true (televised) love.
