There’s never been a better time to be alive if you’re a fan of classic Simpsons. I mean, apart from the fact that your beloved show has persisted as a shambling, unfunny zombie so long that there are now objectively more bad episodes of the show than good ones.
But apart from that little mood-killer, it’s good. Showrunners and creators like Josh Weinstein have spent the last year or so tweeting out juicy tidbits and lost scripts from the show’s prime, giving a bit of insight into how the sausage was made. (The ‘sausage’ in this case is some of the best primetime comedy ever produced.)
Weinstein has come out with a particularly great entry today – a lost Lionel Hutz scene which never made it into the excellent anthology episode 22 Short Films About Springfield.
Behold:
“22 Short Films About Springfield” never had 22 stories but the second draft did have 20! Here’s the Lionel Hutz story that was cut. pic.twitter.com/U2mawadFjv

Even without this great little bit, it’s still in the top ten or so best episodes of the show – largely by virtue of the steamed hams bit alone. But it’s still great – and if you tell me you didn’t read it in Phil Hartmann‘s voice in your head, you’re lying to either me or yourself.
