Based on the beloved coming-of-age novel by Louisa May Alcott, Little Women follows the March sisters Amy, Jo, Beth, and Meg in Civil War-era Massachusetts. The classic has been adapted for film and television a number of times over the years, like the 1994 version starring Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, Trini Alvarado, Susan Sarandon, and Christian Bale.

The newest March sisters are Emma Watson (Meg), Saoirse Ronan (Jo), Eliza Scanlen (Beth), and Florence Pugh (Amy). The lovely Laura Dern stars as their mother, Meryl Streep as their aunt, and Timothée Chalamet plays Theodore ‘Laurie’ Laurence, the boy next door and Jo’s close friend.

Chalamet’s Laurie and Ronan’s Jo were captured in quite the intense scene, causing Twitter to go OFF.

After Vanity Fair rolled out the piccies, Watson re-shared them to her Instagram.

Ronan, who previously acted opposite Chalamet in Gerwig’s acclaimed Lady Bird, told Vanity Fair: “I loved that in Lady Bird, he was the one that broke my heart, but I got to break his heart in Little Women.”

Little Women is slated for release later this year.

In the meantime, you can catch the BBC‘s telly version on Stan now. This three-part adaptation stars Oscar winner Angela Lansbury and BAFTA winners Michael Gambon and Emily Watson.
