If you haven’t read Kazuo Ishiguro’s beautiful/devastating Never Let Me Go, don’t worry, this brief clip taken from Mark Romanek’s film adaptation of the same name does little to spoil the terrible underlying truth of Ruth (Keira Knightley) and Cathy’s (Carey Mulligan) ulterior existence. Have I said too much? Maybe. Hard to be more spoil-ery than the film’s trailer though. In the clip (see below) Keira Knightley’s Ruth confronts Carey Mulligan’s Cathy about her feelings toward Andrew Garfield’s Tommy (complicated love triangle) then ridicules Cathy’s porn collection and makes amends by kissing her. Cynical though it is to say, that last part is probably why the studio chose to premiere this particular clip first. Still really excited to see the film though.
