Kit Harington’s Brother Perfectly Referenced Jon Snow In His Best Man Speech

Kit Harington

For the rest of his life, Kit Harington will have “You know nothing, Jon Snow” whispered, said, or yelled at him from across the street. It’s a small price to pay for playing one of television’s most famed characters and even though he absolutely hates those five words, Harington can’t escape them… even on his wedding day.

With quite the intense month ahead of him, Harington dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to chat about the his upcoming gig on Saturday Night Live, the final season of Thrones, and everything in-between.

Harington told Fallon that he simply hates it whenever he hears the line spoken by Ygritte, who was played by his real-life wife Rose Leslie.

“I hate it, I hate it when people say it. My brother managed to get it into the end of my best man’s speech,” he shared. “It was quite sweet actually. He said ‘But looking at the woman you’re marrying, it shows you do know something Jon Snow.'”

That is far too lovely.

Further on in the interview, Fallon asked Harington if it was true that he once rocked up to a costume party dressed as Jon Snow. Turns out, it is.

“It was Rose’s 30th birthday and she decided the theme for the costume party was ‘Bad Taste’,” he explained. “So I thought about it and I thought ‘What’s worse taste than going as the character you play in the show you’re in.”

Harington thought “it was really funny” idea but at the party, “we had these two girls handing out canapes and drinks and things and they had not been told what the theme of the costume party was so they just saw me dressed as my character from ‘Game of Thrones’. It’s like you sad, sad man.”

But did Harington go all out and request an authentic black fur coat from set? Nope!

“I bought it from a costume store,” he said.

Fun fact: Kit Harington cannot wink and it makes the final part of this interview just a tad amusing.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will premiere in Australia Monday 15, April on HBO.
