Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has attended a rehabilitation facility for the last month to seek treatment for exhaustion and alcohol usage, according to a Page Six report.

Citing a friend of Harington, the outlet reports the star sought treatment due to the stress of portraying Jon Snow in the fantasy series, and was feeling the immense weight of fan expectations leading up to the show’s finale.

Harington is reported to have checked into Privé-Swiss facility in the US state of Connecticut well before the last episode went to air. The star has allegedly undergone treatment including cognitive behavioural therapy.

The friend told Page Six that Harington’s wife, Rose Leslie, had given her former co-star her full support.

“Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest,” the friend is quoted as saying. “Right now, he just needs peace and quiet.”

The report comes after a mini-documentary on the production of Game of Thrones‘ final season showed a shocked Harington learn the fate of his character.

That episode saw Snow kill his on-screen partner, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), in one of the most significant twists in modern television history.

Harington had previously discussed the impact of the role on his personal life, telling Variety that Snow’s death and resurrection in Season 5 coincided with his decision to attend therapy.

“That was a time when I started therapy, and started talking to people,” Harington said.

“I had felt very unsafe, and I wasn’t talking to anyone. I had to feel very grateful for what I have, but I felt incredibly concerned about whether I could even fucking act.”

In April, he told Esquire he “fucking broke down” after filming the final scene, which “was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again.”

All the best to the dude.
