KFC‘s controversial bread-free chicken sandwich “The Double” (known as the “Double Down” in the US) could be making a comeback. The Double is like the freeform jazz of fast food with melted cheese acting as the binding agent to paste together rashers of bacon between two fried chicken breasts that act as the “bun”. It is the rudest excuse for a burger known to man but strikes me as the kind of abomination you have to try once.
KFC have threatened to bring this food crime back onto the Australian menus if their Facebook page ‘Likes’ reaches 500,000. The page is currently hovering around 489,190 likes and judging by the enthusiastic Facebook sharing the numbers are quickly getting up there. As you can see below, one post promoting The Double’s prospective return garnered 559 shares in just two hours:
