Jonah Hill Was Only Paid $60,000 For His Role In ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’

Funny man and all-around good guy Jonah Hill has reportedly only earned $60,000 for his role in The Wolf Of Wall Street. In comparison, co-star Leonardo DiCaprio was probably paid something like $10 million.

Seems fair, right?

Paramount claim the budget for the entire movie was around $100 million, and Jonah (being the Oscar-nominated badass that he is) could have demanded a hell of a lot more. Instead, while on The Howard Stern Show, he revealed that his cut was only about $60,000, and that’s before commissions and taxes. After Uncle Sam, agents, managers and publicists take their cut, that figure would be a substantially smaller.

Jonah wasn’t cut about it, mind you. He jumped on the opportunity.

“They gave me the lowest amount of money possible. That was their offer and I said, ‘I will sign the paper tonight. Fax ’em the papers tonight. I want to sign them tonight before they change their mind. I wanna sign them before I go to sleep tonight so they legally can’t change their mind.”

The reason behind it all? According to Jonah it was the opportunity to work with the legendary Martin Scorsese. The chance to work with someone as talented as Scorsese was enough for Jonah to work for what is probably just above minimum wage. Not that he really needs the money. But if more A-list actors were willing to do what he did, movies would be a hell of a lot better.

“I would sell my house and give him all my money to work for him. This isn’t what you make money for. You do ’22 Jump Street’ or you do other things, and you can pay your rent. I would’ve done anything in the world. I would do it again in a second … This shit isn’t about money. You should do things that you care about.”

Well, not only did you see a ton of boobs, but you also got an Oscar nomination out of it. Who’d have thought?
