Leonardo DiCaprio & Jonah Hill Are Developing A Hip-Hop Drama About A Tribe Called Quest

Leads in the critically-acclaimed buddy comedy about bros, boats and boobs known as Life, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill are developing a scripted TV series based on Leo’s pal Q-Tip and A Tribe Called Quest’s experience with the positive vibes radiating from the Native Tongues hip-hop collective of the late 80s and early 90s.
Reports Deadline: “The drama project will draw from Q-Tip’s experiences with the group and with The Native Tongues collective that A Tribe Called Quest was a member of, which brought together late 1980s and early 1990s hip-hop artists known for their positive-minded, Afrocentric lyrics. The show will reflect on the stories of their friendship and how their music played a part in culture then and influenced the music of today.”
There’s currently no network or writer attached to the project, but another fun fact is that Q-Tip and Leo are best friends, and have been since the former infiltrated the latter’s Pussy Posse (read all about it!) in 1994, which also included Tobey Maguire, David Blaine and E. from Entourage. Jonah Hill would’ve been eleven.
“Leo – that’s one of my best friends and I’m one of his. That’s just my boy,” Q-Tip told The LA Times of their fruitful bromance in 2008.
Can you kick it? Yes, yes you can.
