IT’S HAPPPENNNNINNGGGG. We know the absolute bare minimum of Jon Favreau‘s eight-episode series The Mandalorian but George Lucas is on set and that is very exciting.

Favreau, working on his goddamn birthday, was surprised by ol’ mate Lucas – otherwise known as the creator of the Star Wars universe. As you will probably know by now, Favreau is the writer and executive producer of the very hyped live-action Star Wars series which will air on Disney‘s streaming service, Disney Play.

We may only know very little about the series but lately, the 52-year-old has been sharing a few piccies on Instagram including one of a badass weapon and something that could either be an ice-cream maker or some sort of thermal detonator. The choice is yours.

Anywhoo, Lucas appeared to drop by to (probably) impart some wisdom on The Mandalorian crew.

Pictured: a very happy Favreau.

Also pictured: Lucas, Dave Filoni, and Favreau.

Filoni, a Star Wars legend, will be directing the first episode of the series. Also directing a couple of episodes? Bryce Dallas Howard, Taika Waititi, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Those names speak for themselves.

Back when the The Mandalorian news was still fresh, Favreau said he couldn’t believe he had been given this opportunity: “If you told me at 11-years-old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.”

Not to mention, Favreau also recently posted a picture of the live-action Lion King gang in the studio making magic. Joining him in this picture is Seth Rogen, Donald Glover, and Billy Eichner. Favreau is directing that Disney classic while Glover will voice Simba and Rogen and Eichner will slide into the roles of Timon and Pumbaa, respectively.

Oh yeah, Hans Zimmer is back to score the music.

Lots happening.

The Mandalorian synopsis coming in hot:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic…

First look coming in HOT:

HYPE, HYPE, HYPE.
