Disney’s Finally Bringing Back ‘The Clone Wars’ For One Last Animated Hurrah

From 2008 to 2014, the Emmy Award-winning Star Wars: The Clone Wars absolutely delighted the people for its excellent storytelling, voice-acting, and quality animations.

It may have been a kids show but goddamn it was good so its abrupt cancellation was… unsatisfying to say the least.

But during the 10th Anniversary Clone Wars panel at the 2018 Comic-Con San Diego (where else?) producer Dave Filoni announced the show would be making a comeback to finally complete the series.

If it’s been a while since you last binged the series, The Clone Wars takes place during the titular time period before Revenge of the Sith and tells the tale of one Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano. This was great and all but the series also delved into the lives of the cadets, lead by the honourable Captain Rex, and those singular episodes were easily some of the best.

Cast your minds back to the show and the series cut off just as Ahsoka became disillusioned with the Jedi Order after they screwed her over. The Lost Missions were then a (good) thing but still, the story wasn’t complete.

BUT NOW:

“The Clone Wars. Reporting in for another tour of duty.”

I don’t know how, but even just the font gives the feels.

But wait there’s more because THERE’S A TRAILER ALREADY:

HOLY SHIT.

In conclusion:

  • Captain Rex being a babe.
  • The words “A war left unfinished…until now”.
  • Ahsoka and Anakin reuniting.
    • “Hello master, it’s been a while.”

Keen, so keen.

Of the show’s return Filoni said:

“I honestly didn’t think we would ever have the opportunity to return to The Clone Wars.

“Thanks to the relentless fan support and the team behind Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service, we will now get to tell more of those stories.”

Per StarWars.com there’ll be 12 new episodes to wrap up the series and will air on Disney’s streaming service.

There’s yet to be a release date but let’s hope now, right now.

Anywhoo, I would say Clone Wars is available to binge on Netflix BUT THEY GOT RID OF IT.

But in other excellent news, it was announced in March that Jon Favreau is locked in to write and produce a new live-action Star Wars series for Disney’s streaming platform.
