John Mulaney’s Friends Say He Has Checked Out Of Rehab After 60 Days And Is ‘Doing Well’

Beloved comedian John Mulaney has reportedly left rehab, after checking himself in to a facility late last year, and sources close to him say he is “doing well” in outpatient care.

In late December last year, news broke that John Mulaney had checked into treatment for 60 days to help overcome struggles with alcohol and drug abuse, including cocaine.

Speaking with Page Six, a friend of the comedian said: “John has completed 60 days in rehab and now he’s in outpatient sober care. He is doing well, although he is still not ready to return to work.”

The 38-year-old has spoken openly about his struggles with addition in the past, saying in a 2019 interview that he began drinking at a young age.

“I drank for attention,” he told Esquire. “I was really outgoing, and then at 12, I wasn’t. I didn’t know how to act. And then I was drinking, and I was hilarious again.”

He later began experimenting with drugs, and quit cocaine in 2005, but began to struggle during the COVID lockdown, with sources saying friends urged him to enter rehab.

“It was a relief to his wife and family that he checked in,” said another source. “It was John’s decision. Plain and simple, John had too much downtime. He had too much time in his own head.”

We wish John Mulaney all the best in his ongoing recovery.
