“Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed,” they wrote.
“All tickets for the December 5 show will be honoured for the rescheduled date. Information on the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at point of purchase.”

At the time of writing, those tweets were four hours old. No further update has been announced.
Dead & Company’s next show – following the postponed New Orleans one – is scheduled for Orlando, Florida on Thursday. No word yet on if he’ll be recovered in time for that one, but despite the fact that appendectomies are a relatively low-risk surgical procedure, it’s still surgery, and going under general anaesthetic can knock you about for a while.
Mayer has been playing with Dead & Company since the bands’ inception in 2015.
