John Mayer, equal parts phenomenal guitarist and phenomenal guitar bro, has responded to former partner Katy Perry’s claim that he was the best sexual partner of her life – and he doesn’t seem too fussed.
Mayer, who recently copped to still holding onto one of her shampoo bottles, told Rolling Stone that “I don’t have a cool-enough thought” for Perry’s ego-boosting ranking.
“I’ve hacked this game. I pay very little of the price of fame now,” Mayer said.
“I get to play the music that moves me the most. I’m having the time of my life.“I’m 39 – I remember 32. I don’t wanna do it again.”
While the assertion that he doesn’t have a “cool” take is immediately scuttled by his very next sentence, it does kinda show the bloke doesn’t feel the need to remind the world of his relationship with the Witness pop belter in order to stay in the public eye.
Besides, Mayer has weed now. The Search For Everything muso admitted that he’s all but given up drinking in favour of pot, and that he’s way, way into it these days. Old mate even reckons “I remember every trip I ever took. I remember every thought I ever had when I laid there.”
We guess that’s what happens when you tour with what’s left of The Grateful Dead, hey?
