Jessica Mauboy Only Plays Singers, Will Cameo In Underbelly: Razor

Jessica Mauboy is serious about this whole acting thing. Really. After a well-received debutt in musical comedy Bran Nue Dae, the entertainment double threat will next star in The Sapphires, a musical drama exploring Australia’s fictional answer to The Supremes. Note: NOT THE ONLY SINGER THE FORMER AUSTRALIA IDOL CONTESTANT WILL PORTRAY THIS YEAR. Mauboy will also cameo as a nightclub performer in Nine’s upcoming Underbelly: Razor. Apparently she’ll cover Real Life’s 1983 synth pop hit “Send Me An Angel” whilst sauntering through fictional gin joint the Fifty-Fifty aka Darlinghurst’s Burdekin Hotel styled all opulent and old-timey. Cool. Good to know they’ll compliment all the killing, drugs, prostitutes and cutting implements with period arrangements of contemporary music. Something for almost everyone! Underbelly: Razor premieres later this year.
