Jenna Maroney Joins Liz Lemon’s New Show, Except In Real Life

Liz Lemon and Jenna Maroney are getting back together – sort of!

Earlier today, Deadline reported that actress Jane Krakowski is returning to NBC, in a new comedy series called Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which is being produced by 30 Rock creator and co-star Tina Fey. Robert Carlock, an executive producer on 30 Rock is also attached.

The series stars Ellie Kemper, otherwise known as the wonderful Erin of The Office, as a woman named Kimmy, who leaves behind her life in a religious cult after 15 years, and attempts to return to regular society. Krakowski will play a rich, snooty Manhattan mother who hires Kimmy as a nanny, a role that seems well within her wheelhouse.

Up until fairly recently, Krakowski was attached to another show called Dead Boss, where she played a woman who stood accused of murdering her employer. David Cross of Arrested Development and Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel was all set to play the dead boss of the title, but sadly, the show didn’t get picked up.

It seems like Jenna Maroney landed on her feet, though. Jane Krakowski’s epic, imperious meanness should play really well against Ellie Kemper’s endless reserves of wide-eyed enthusiasm. And who knows, Tina Fey might even stop in as a guest star at some point …

In the mean time, here’s some vintage Erin to kick start your day.

And what the hell, have some Jenna, too.
