This December, Mariah Carey‘s reality show Mariah’s World will be coming at you like a tsunami of chardonnay and muscle relaxants, and until then, you can go ahead and bask in the glory of the first trailer.
When presenting the trailer at a Television Critics’ Association panel this week, Mariah reportedly entered the room with “six half-naked muscle men” who “formed a chair for her to sit on”, because of course she did.
Highlights of the trailer include:
– Mariah ‘casually’ lounging around in a leather bustier and fishnets while giving a talking head-style interview to camera.
– Mariah making a prank phone call while her underlings laugh nervously and avoid eye contact.
– Mariah attempting to humanise herself by insisting that those stories about her getting puppies delivered are all made up.
The only thing missing is Mariah’s fiance James Packer. Presumably the Crown Resorts chairman thought all of this was a bit tacky and/or a bit much.
At the same TCA panel, Mariah took the time to throw some barbs at American Idol, on which she appeared as a judge for one ill-fated season alongside arch-enemy Nicki Minaj.
“I told them, I’m not fucking putting up with her fucking highness over there,” Mariah said of Minaj, adding that Idol was “the most abusive experience” she had ever been through.
She then chugged some sparkling and told the audience “by the way, you’ve just driven me to drink.” Slay.
