Introducing Your New Top Gear Host: Chris Evans, Motor Enthusiast

After that whole Jeremy Clarksonpunching-someone-and-getting-fired debacle, and Top Gear co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May quitting in solidarity, until now one of the most watched TV shows in the world has been severely lacking anyone to front it.

BBC has just announced a new lead presenter from within their own family: Chris Evans.

Not to be confused with Chris Evans the actor, Chris Evans the TV and radio personality is also known to the UK public as host of The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.

Which we know might not mean much to Australian audiences, so…. *shrugs*. He’s a comedian, he’s one of Britain’s most successful broadcasters, and he’s got very big boots to fill.

“I promise I will do everything I possibly can to respect what has gone on before and take the show forward,” he said, saying that it’s his “favourite programme of all time.” He’s mates with Jeremy Clarkson, so they can probably shoot the shit / share hosting tips over pints down the pub.

The other two hosts are yet to be announced, but it’s coming any day now – Top Gear confirmed that the show will be returning in a matter of weeks.

Evans has signed a three year deal to host Top Gear. Meanwhile, Clarkson, May, and Hammond are rumoured to be reuniting for a new Netflix show.
