Hugh Jackman’s Twitter Fail

This technology thing sure is tricky isn’t it. For any celebrities negotiating the social media minefield take note of the above Twitter fail made by Hugh Jackman aka Australia’s favourite son which somehow manages to be unintentionally un-Australian in under 140 characters.

The innocuous looking Tweet is erroneous on two counts – firstly Jackman implements the American spelling of harbour attributed (by his Publicist) to the preemptive text on his Blackberry. Not an audacious slap in the face to Australian culture via the embrace of American spelling as I originally thought, but perhaps I’m reading too much into it. Let preemptive text be the culprit here not a lack of national pride. Believable? Yes – so we’ll let it slide.

Secondly and more damningly however, Jackman refers to the Opera House as the Opera Center which in our books is tantamount to treason and deserves a lifetime ban on future Peter Allen impersonations and the wearing of RM Williams product in public. Pfft the Opera Center adjacent to the Harbor Bridge? Shame on you Hugh Jackman. Shame. On. You.
