‘Homeland’ Season Three Teaser Leaves You In the Dark

Showtime‘s Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning drama Homeland returns for its third season on 29 September, 2013, and will have you gripped like the jaws of a Blue Tongue Lizard upon sudden head trauma. At the end of Season Two [SPOILER ALERT] we saw Carrie (played by the evocative cry face of Claire Danes) dropping a fugitive Brody (the excellent Damian Lewis) to the Canadian border after being framed (at least we’re pretty sure he was framed) for a car bomb resulting in several fatalities. Carrie went back to Langley where Saul (Mandy Patinkin, a hundred times Mandy Patinkin) had promoted her to station chief. The final episode managed to balance a satisfying sense of closure with an inevitable thirst for what comes next?

So, what does come next? Is Brody truly a changed man? Will Damian Lewis take on a supporting role this season while he’s, presumably, holed up in Canada until proven innocent? Is he innocent? What about the quasi-suspicious C.I.A. agent Quinn (Rupert Friend)? Will he and his sniper rifle be reappearing in Season Three? Will Dana continue being a petulant little asshole in those annoying brown ankle boots? [Note: Follow actress Morgan Saylor for sweet behind-the-scenes Instagram updates]. Will Saul get to deliver more 24-carat one liners [refer “Well, if it isn’t Javert,” in season two finale]? What is to become of the grating Carrie-Brody relationship? Will we have to endure more excruciating audio of them screwing in motels?

None of those questions and less are answered in the minimalist Season Three teaser trailer below. Ugh, why bother?
