Australia, Help Mandy Patinkin (Saul from ‘Homeland’) Find His Dad’s Cheerleading Jacket

Currently touring those areas of the country where a musical stage show in which he performs alongside baritone Nathan Gunn is a viable commercial and creative endeavour, stage and screen legend Mandy Patinkin appeared on Channel Ten’s The Project last night for some lighthearted cross-promotional banter.
After making light of each performers’ penchant for on-stage nudity, Mandy – who you may know as Saul from Homeland or Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride – steered the typically convivial conversation toward the grave matter of a precious lost varsity jacket, saying:

“Before I leave, if I might, I sent [The Project] a photograph [and asked] if the producers could put it up. Well, last time I was here, that jacket [seen above] with the ‘Cheerleader’ in the P, I left it on the airplane when I landed in Melbourne. It’s a purple-maroon jacket with, I think, white sleeves. That was my father’s cheerleading letter. It’s the most important thing for me, and I can’t tell you what I’ll do for this country if someone shows up with that jacket.

I’ll gather all resources to fix this problem here if you find me that jacket.

I couldn’t give a damn about singing, I’m here to find my jacket and I ask all Australians to please attend to – help me!”

You heard the man, Australia. Help Mandy Patinkin find his Dad’s lost cheerleading letterman jacket. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of said jacket, you can get in touch with The Project on Facebook, or Twitter using the hashtag #findmandysjacket; or you could tweet at this defunct Patti Lupone and Mandy Patinkin Broadway Revival promotional account. Maybe he still desperately, hopefully checks that for word of misplaced sportswear?
