Holy Shit, We’re Finally Getting A Koala Pokémon & Its Power Is Sleeping

Lately, there’s been a fair bit of hype around the go-to anime franchise of your childhood.

Pokémon Go has sidled into our conscience recently, readying us for a glorious future where we can roam around IRL and encounter, battle and capture all manner of bastardised critters.

The thing is, despite the game being open for beta testing Down Under, our flora and fauna has always been somewhat underrepresented in Kanto and its surrounds.

Sure, there’s Kangaskhan – but that’s really just a lizard with a pouch. We admit Psyduck is pretty close to a platypus, but even then, we’ve been left without a fair dinkum Aussie pocket monster.

UNTIL BLOODY NOW. According to Japanese magazine Corocoro, we can expect to see our new m8 Nekkoala (flawless) in the near future, and just have a gander right this second:

If that’s not the greatest addition to the long-running franchise you’ve seen since the original 151, we don’t know what to tell you.

The boffins over at NintendoEverything have interpreted the text surrounding our new furry m8, and they claim it’s a “contagious dream Pokemon.”

That means it nestles in the ‘Normal’ category, with the added bonus of having any additional affects thrown upon it – being poisoned, confused, what have you – converted to flat-out sleeping.

Read: not only does it look like a koala, it will act like one too. Just wonderful. Also included is some new dog Pokémon. Join the pile, bud, it’s Nekkoala or nothing now.
