Hey Nerds, That ‘X-Files’ Reboot Is Getting Even Closer

In January of this year, we reported on the possibility of an X-Files reboot coming your way soon, with OG paranormal investigators David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning to reprise their roles as Mulder and Scully.
Details were vague at the time, but now, more are starting to emerge. Uproxx report that a well-placed source inside Fox is touting the return of the show as a “short stack” series.
Thankfully, this does not mean that Mulder and Scully will be growing their hair out and forming a tween-moistening pop punk outfit, but rather, that the revival will run for between six and ten episodes.
In order for this to happen, the Fox network and 20th Century Fox Television would both need to sign off, but a recent Daily Mail feature on Anderson suggested that if this happens, the show could be underway as early as June.
Anderson also said that writers from the original series have been asked to contribute to its return. “The idea is to get the old gang back, have some fun and get a bit of closure for us and the audience,” she said.
Last week, after David Lynch dropped hints that all may not be well with his upcoming return to Twin Peaks, Showtime stepped in to assure fans that it was all definitely going ahead.
If only the cast of 3rd Rock From The Sun can be convinced to get together once more, our ’90s TV nostalgia quota will be met.
