The revolution, as anyone who’s seen Amazon’s Transparent and Vimeo’s High Maintenance will know, will not be televised. It will be streamed on the internet.
And so will a new version of long-running Australian variety show Hey Hey It’s Saturday, which host Daryl Somers tonight revealed would be hosted on a new online content platform called HeyHey.tv.
Somers made the announcement on A Current Affair tonight, saying that “Online, it’s a whole new ball game.” The site, which at current only hosts vintage clips, will also dabble in “current stuff”, per Somers.
“If people embrace the website, we’ll certainly look at doing live shows,” he said.
