A teaser for Angelina Jolie’s new film Unbroken was played during the Sochi Olympics featuring Louis Zamperini, the man whose life story is the basis for the film.
The film chronicles the life of Zamperini, who went from being an Olympic runner to a WWII bombardier. After a near fatal plane crash, he survived in a raft for 47 days only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and taken to a POW camp. Where, like most POWs, he was treated pretty horrifically.
Jolie commandeered mighty swathes of Australia for the filming and rearranged us to look like the United States, Japan and the Marshall Islands. Did a pretty damn good job of it too. Whatever there is to be said about Australia, we’re certainly versatile.
