Real Life Prince Harry Styles In Talks To Play Disney’s Prince Eric In ‘The Little Mermaid’

When the three mystical Fates of Hercules foresaw the future of the planet, I’m almost certain they predicted that a certain boy band singer named Harry Styles would one day bring their colleague Prince Eric to life in a live-action The Little Mermaid film. I’m almost certain of it.

The One Direction singer is said to be in talks to play the earthbound bae of the aquatic Ariel, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Several key roles in the film have already been filled including the controversial casting of R&B singer Halle Bailey as Ariel, Room star Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and comic Awkwafina as Scuttle.

Meanwhile Melissa McCarthy is reportedly also in talks to portray the film’s villainous evil sea witch, Ursula.

The publication also reports that the casting of Bailey and Styles, two established singers, would indicate Disney’s determination to find young talent with stellar singing abilities to lend their angelic voices to the soundtrack.

Styles made his acting debut with 2017’s Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan’s World War II drama that grossed over $526 million worldwide and collected several Oscars.

The ‘Sign of the Times’ singer was recently in talks to play iconic singer Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming biopic, even testing for the role, but just yesterday it was announced that he lost out to Carrie Diaries actor Austin Butler.

For the live-action remake, Alan Menken, the bloke who scored the original flick which won best original song and score at the Oscars, will update his score and compose a new song with lyrics from Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Filming is set to begin in early 2020.
