Dear 7PM Project, ever since Hamish and Andy interviewed Hillary Clinton for your show the other day, I can’t help but feel that I’ve been unfair to you. Truth be told, I didn’t really give you a chance. But if you somehow organized an interview with a former First Lady and leading candidate for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination – I won’t downplay its enormity, or, by extension, the importance of your show.
Maybe I should give you another try, yes? And Hamish and Andy! What great guys! I loved the jokes about assassination via expired foodstuffs, the advice for concealing gift disappointment, the tips for negotiating take out food and that aura of loveliness not usually associated with a U.S Secretary of State and two Aussie dudes taking the piss. They told jokes, she laughed. She told jokes, they laughed. Everyone laughed, even you. And it was silly and humanizing and ridiculously Australian which is great because you can’t compete with the hard line satire of Stewart and Colbert anyway. They’re on a whole other comedy planet. This though, this is stupid and fantastic but not in that order.
Or, as Jezebel puts it: ““Wonderfully charming and normal” aren’t words often used to describe Hillary Clinton, but she recently cut loose in this interview…“.
