Gwyneth & Leighton Meester In ‘Country Strong’ Trailer

Watch Gwyneth Paltrow play a famed country music singer, who reemerges after a stint in rehab and tries to salvage her career. With the success of ‘Crazy Heart’ in 2009, we wonder how Paltrow’s ‘Country Strong’ will fair in 2010. And sure, Gwyneth is easier on the eyes than Jeff Bridges, and technically she can sing (as we saw in ‘Duets’); but let’s hope it doesn’t turn out to be follow the same formulaic plot as its predecessor. You know: the substance abusing industry stalwart on the verge of a personal and professional breakdown who has to deal with the talented up-and-comer threatening to knock them off their perch, along the way finding love, redemption and ultimately a hit single on the country and western charts…

Oh shit…

The movie follows up-and-coming singer songwriter Beau Williams (Garrett Hedlund) who gets involved both personally and professionally with country singer Kelly Canter (Paltrow). As a means of resurrecting her own career, the pair embark on a tour across the country, alongside her husband/manager Ed (Tim McGraw) and former beauty queen/singer wannabe Chiles Stanton (Leighton Meester) as support act. Let the tumult unfold.

Country Strong will be released December 22 in the US.
