Patrizia Gucci, a second cousin of the late Maurizio Gucci, has spectacularly slammed the upcoming Ridley Scott film about their family, calling set photos “shameful” and “ugly”, and honestly, this is the kind of petty, rich people drama that I thrive on.

The House Of Gucci is currently filming in Italy, with Adam Driver as the late businessman Maurizio, and Lady Gaga as his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, who was jailed for 18 years after she arranged his murder by a hitman in 1995.

Patrizia Gucci told the Associated Press that she has reached out to Ridley Scott’s wife Giannina Facio to discuss concerns over the film, and about alleged inaccuracies in the book on which it’s based, but has not yet heard back. She said:

“We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family. They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system. … Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything, but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”

While Patrizia Gucci has no apparent beef with Lady Gaga and Adam Driver, she went in on some of the film’s other stars, and is not pleased with paparazzi photos she’s seen of Al Pacino and Jared Leto in character. She said:

“My grandfather was a very handsome man, like all the Guccis, and very tall, blue eyes and very elegant. He is being played by Al Pacino, who is not very tall already, and this photo shows him as fat, short, with sideburns, really ugly. Shameful, because he doesn’t resemble him at all.”

Patrizia also had some choice words for Leto, who was pictured in a lilac suit with unkempt hair in character as her father Paolo Gucci. “Horrible, horrible. I still feel offended,” she said of the pics.

The Gucci fashion house itself, which has not had ties with the family since the early 1990s, is cooperating with the film, and has opened its archives for costumes and props.

A November release date is currently in place.
