‘Gruen Sweat’ Will Merge Ad Speak With The London Games

The 2012 London Olympic Games are only 32 days off the opening ceremony and, in addition to some dubious updates by two beach-side hipsters, the unofficial Australian coverage of the Games will include a new branch of ABC’s ever expanding Gruen franchise, Gruen Sweat.

Hosted by Wil Anderson and his usual Gruen cohort of Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft, the show will focus on advertising within the context of the world’s biggest and most-watched televised sporting event.

The series producer Andrew Denton describes the conceit as: “Every four years, the cream of the world’s advertisers come together for the greatest marketing event in history… This year it’s in London and for the brands taking part, their very presence is a testament to years of dedication and focus, of sweat and toil. What do they want for their efforts? Gold, gold, gold. They want to bring home glory, to pit themselves against the best on the planet.”

The show will air on ABC1 at 8:30pm from Wednesday July 25, bumping Randling to the following time slot at 9.15pm.
