The OG Gossip Girl Intro That Was Scrapped At The Last Min Has Surfaced Online & It’s Fkn Wild

Remember in the original Gossip Girl intro how she says, “And who am I? That’s one secret I’ll never tell.” Well, turns out there are two secrets that she was refusing to divulge, her identity (spoiler alert, it’s Dan Humphrey) and the fact that there was originally a different intro for the show.

The OG intro that was scrapped at the eleventh hour has surfaced online and it just fucking SCREAMS noughties telly.

Each character turns around and swishes their hair, looking all fabulous, as scenes from the show flash throughout. But here’s the most mind-blowing part: the theme tune was ‘Glamorous’ by Fergie, which fits this show like a fucking glove.

Now, I’m not sure if that actually was the original opening song or if whoever found it and circulated it added the track on because, again, it fits so well.

The scrapped Gossip Girl intro has divided the internet, with some opining that they shoulda rolled with this one since it was so fitting for its time, with others preferring the more ~mysterious~ and succinct intro that we ended up with.

Hell, it’s even dividing my own household as my boyfriend thinks it sucks and the OG one is way better, whereas I, a noughties pop culture connoisseur, reckon this one would’ve been the bow on top of an iconic 2000s series.

To refresh your memory, here’s the one they ended up rolling with:

The resurfacing comes just before the Gossip Girl reboot hits our screens. It stars Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope, Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe, Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway, Savannah Lee Smith as Monet de Haan, Evan Mock as Akeno Menzies and Zión Moreno as Luna La.

Gossip Girl will premiere July 8 on Binge.
