Gold Coast To Host 2018 Commonwealth Games

The Gold Coast has won their bid for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, beating out Sri Lanka for the right to host the sporting event.

Queensland Premier and all-round legend Anna Bligh announced the win this morning, while admitting to SkyNews “There was a good chance we weren’t going to make it.” Seems that pragmatism paid off.

The Games have been touted as the ‘biggest thing ever’ to hit the Gold Coast, aside from schoolies, which will obviously be The Biggest Thing Forever. Here’s hoping there will be some themed athletic events based around the popular teen rite-of-passage; the 100m Escape-Bouncer Relay, High Jump (Over The Back Wall Of The Liqour Store), 400m Dash To The Pharmacy For Morning After Pills and the Empty Vodka Bottle Javelin.

Don’t joke. Just because they aren’t official doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
