First Look: AnnaSophia Robb As Carrie Bradshaw in ‘The Carrie Diaries’

The first image of AnnaSophia Robb (the girl spellcheck loves to hate) as a young, 80s era Carrie Bradshaw has been revealed and it’s… appropriate! It’s The CW to a tee: 80s crimped hair, leopard and sequins, pop of colour pumps, and the all-important Manhattan backdrop. Caught mid-step, Robb certainly fits the bill to play Bradshaw, who was always freaking mid-stepping her away about mid-town.

Writer and executive producer, Amy B. Harris, said in a statement that “When AnnaSophia Robb walked into the room, we knew we had found her. The fact that she loves a gorgeous pair of heels doesn’t hurt either.” With costumes designed by Gossip Girl costumier, Eric Damon, the shoes (and entire wardrobes) on The Carrie Diaries will be certifiably ridiculous.

The series will be helmed by The O.C. and G.G. creator, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Len Goldstein and the writer responsible for SATC, Candace Bushnell. Story-wise, The C.D. will follow Bradshaw from high school in Connecticut to her first days as a writer in New York.

Because nothing says young writer struggling to make a living in a notoriously expensive city like sequins and tuile and leopard! Consider our disbelief formally suspended.
