Actress To Play Teenage Carrie Bradshaw Revealed

Toward the end of last year, American cable network The CW confirmed plans to turn Candace Bushnell’s before-they-were-not-virgins Sex And The City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, into a TV series.

The big questions was: which young actress would be cast as the teenage Carrie Bradshaw? And today the answer has been revealed:

AnnaSophia Robb who played the ill-fated gum enthusiast Violet in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has landed the part!

Can you see the resemblance?

Not to go all psychic-jerk on you, but in early 2011 we actually picked AnnaSophia as one of Five Actress That Would Make A Good Carrie Bradshaw. At the time we wrote Robb has remained relatively underexposed, which might be an advantage in casting a character as well-known as Carrie Bradshaw. and we think that still applies.

The Carrie Diaries is set during Carrie’s high school days growing up in a small town, and with the team behind The O.C. and Gossip Girl it could make for some very colourful, expensively-produced school yard trash. In other words, SENSATIONAL!
