Every ‘Game Of Thrones’ Ep In S8 Will Cost A Staggering $15 Million To Make

There’s only six episodes left of the cultural monolith that is Game of Thrones and the epic TV show’s many, MANY, fans have crazy high expectations for every second of ’em.

Well giddy up motherfuckers cause it’s just been confirmed that every single episode of season eight is costing HBO 15 million dollars a piece.

HBO’s head accountant rn.

Whilst never exactly having been a cheap show, with even the first season running up a $5 million an episode bill, the $15m figure is a staggeringly large amount for a cable TV show.

Variety reports how the epic sum is due not only to the increasing use of CGI (*cough* zombie dragons *cough*) as well as the use of globe-spanning multiple production units, but “in part to a shooting schedule that more resembles that of a feature film than an episodic series.”

For further comparison, the sci-fi heavy Stranger Things production cost $6 mill an ep for it’s first season last year, whereas the also Netflix produced period drama The Crown dished out $10m per episode.

With an exciting array of directors just announced this morning, combined with this excellent news, season 8 of GoT is going to be an absolute fucking thumper.

All we have to do is wait until probs 2019 for it to come around…
