Eugene Lee Yang Of The Try Guys Comes Out As Gay In Bold Music Video

Eugene Lee Yang

Eugene Lee Yang, one of the creators of popular YouTube channel The Try Guys, has come out as gay in a new music video with the fairly unambiguous title ‘I’m Gay‘.

The five-minute video, which takes the form of a contemporary dance piece, was published to the Try Guys’ YouTube account in celebration of Pride Month in the US.

When sharing the video on Twitter, Eugene Lee Yang said that he created it as his “personal way of coming out as a proud gay man who has many unheard, specific stories to tell.”

He went on to say that he “withheld because of fear and shame” shaped by his background, but that he promises to give his”full truth” in the rest of life’s work.

Yang himself directed the video, which shows him at various stages of his life. The music is by ODESZA. You can go ahead and watch it below:

Eugene Lee Yang formed The Try Guys in 2014 with Keith Habersberger, Ned Fulmer, Zach Kornfeld. They were originally part of Buzzfeed, but later branched out on their own.

The group will be in Australia later this year for Vidcon. You can check that out at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 19th to 22nd.
