When you get caught thirst-liking on Instagram, you probably get a stern talking-to from your s/o, but when Shane Warne gets caught thirst-liking on Instagram, the internet completely and utterly loses its shit, and a new hashtag is born.
Overnight, Australia’s foremost retired bowler, Advanced Hair (“yeah yeah!”) ambassador and emoji tycoon slid into the Instagram comments of one Emily Ratajkowski.
He commented on her most recent selfie with an observation about … the weather. “Stunning day in London !!!” he said, signing off with a kiss. Sure, yep, nothing suss going on here, everybody move along.
It wasn’t the first time Warney had crept into Ratajkowski’s Instagram – a few weeks ago, he was seen showering likes onto her posts. In imaginary Instagram relationship terms, this makes things very, very serious between them.
It wasn’t long before the #GiveShaneAGo hashtag was in full swing, with fans imploring the actress and model to give Warney a chance, perhaps imagining Warnajkowski as a replacement for Brangelina.
The Today Show rallied around the cause this morning, although they also did slip in a reference to Warney as a “creepy uncle”, so their intentions for him may not be entirely the best.
