Dreamworld To Re-Open This Friday With All Proceeds Going To Charity

Dreamworld have announced that the park is set to reopen on Friday, after the park was closed yesterday when four people tragically died in an accident on one of the park’s rides.

Kate Goodchild, Luke Dorsett, Roozbeh Araghi and Cindy Low were all killed when the Thunder River Rapids ride malfunctioned yesterday afternoon.
Dreamworld released a statement this afternoon saying that the ride was had been properly checked:

“Park safety is our priority. Dreamworld would like to assure the public and our guests that at the time of the incident the park was fully compliant with all required safety certifications.

“The Thunder River Rapids ride had successfully completed its annual mechanical and structural engineering on 29 September 2016.”

At this stage it’s unclear what caused the accident to occur, and police are requesting for anyone who might know anything to come forward.

The park is due to open this Friday, with access limited to smaller rides, animal attractions and the waterpark, with proceeds from the day going to the Australian Red Cross in tribute to victims, in the statement Dreamworld said they hoped the day would be “considered part of the healing process for all concerned.
The park will open at 11:00am following a private service for staff, friends and emergency services.
