Disney Officially Confirms ‘Frozen 2’

The highest grossing animated film of all time and the fifth highest grossing film of all time (its worldwide gross sits pretty at a casual $1.2 billion), ‘Frozen‘, has provided the most inevitable news of the day: a sequel is coming. The release date, also inevitably, will be a while-off yet. Inching there slowly and determinedly, tho.

The news was, of course, well expected and was all but officially confirmed back in December last year. If you look at the top ten highest grossing films of all time, the trend of adding sequels (and beyond) is pretty much a condition of making a hit: nine of the top ten films are part of film series with 2 or more films, with the exception of the second highest grossing film of all time, ‘Titanic‘ (nb: ‘Avatar’, at number one, has a buttload of sequels in the works). But then again, Hollywood wouldn’t surprise anyone in making “Titanic 2: The Sinkening”.

Anyway. ‘Frozen 2’ is being developed by Frozen’s Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, but currently has no synopsis, release date or any indication whatsoever of how it’ll pan out; what we do have, however, is Kristen Bell’s reaction tweet, which will have to hold us over for now.
