Disney Confirm A Young Chewbacca’s Howling Into The Han Solo Origin Flick

Look, we’re not going to pretend it’s a shock Han Solo’s faithful Wookiee companion will be present in the young smuggler’s standalone origin film, but confirmation of Chewbacca’s involvement is still pretty stellar.

At the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference, Disney’s commander-in-chief Bob Iger let it slip the film would feature the hairiest bastard this side of Dagobah.
Initially talking about Rogue One – the standalone film which takes place before A New Hope – Iger said “we have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy.”

Worth noting: it’s apparently not even just Solo’s origin, anymore. It’s both of them. Like they’re inextricably linked. Soulmates, even. It’s just as well their bond is so strong, ’cause Iger also said there will possibly be more to come following Star Wars 8‘s 2017 release.

While casting for the role of the galaxy’s scruffiest nerf-herder has been underway for a hot minute, there’s been no word yet on who will don the fuzz. With any luck, they’ll be able to sling a bowcaster half as well as Peter Mayhew.
