Did You Like Scorsese’s HBO Drama ‘Vinyl’? Too Bad Buddy, It’s Cancelled

Vinyl looked like it was gonna be a good show. Had a solid cast, and the creative weight of Martin Scorsese behind it. The setting seemed fuckin’ cool – the New York rock n’ roll scene in 70’s? Sign me the hell up.

But unfortunately the show was a bit of a mess. It was too slow and ponderous, the dialogue wasn’t as sharp as it could be, and really the only redeeming factor was the tunes. And Ray Romano was in it, which I guess you could spin as either a positive or a negative. Definitely a negative, if you’re the person with this ink:
It looked like it was being renewed for a second season despite not being a resounding commercial success and receiving a resounding ‘meh’ from the world’s TV critics. But no longer. HBO won’t be proceeding with a second season.
“Obviously, this was not an easy decision. We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project,” the network said in a statement.
Oh well. If you like rock n’ roll, drugs and the sickening collapse of the veneer of 70s excess, I’m sure there’ll be another TV show for you soon.
